School Closing and Delays
The Rogers City Area Schools on occasion decides to close school for the day, to delay the opening of school for one or two hours or to send students home early due to inclement weather or other uncontrollable conditions.
When possible, school officials will make the decision to close or delay the start of school by 5 a.m. Information used to make such decisions comes from the Presque Isle County Road Commission, local, county and state police agencies, current weather forecasts, and personal road checks by school district employees, including, when necessary, the Superintendent of Schools.
Announcements of school closings or delays can be seen on the Rogers City Area Schools’ web page www.rcashurons.org and Facebook page or parents and students can sign up for notifications to be sent to them, please check with your school’s office secretary.
Announcements of school closings or delays can be heard on the following radio and television stations: WHSB and WATZ in Alpena, WCKC in Cheboygan, TV 7 & 4 and TV 29 & 8 in Traverse City, TV 11 in Alpena, TV 9 & 10 in Cadillac and Channel 99 – City Hall in Rogers City. School officials ask parents and students to call the telephone number 734-9123 for school closing or delay information.
Parents should make arrangements in advance for the care of their children in the rare case when school is closed early and students are sent home due to worsening storm conditions or emergencies at school.
