CLOSE UP WASHINGTON
Every two years Mr. Coolman takes a group of juniors and seniors to Washington D.C. for a week. They leave on a Saturday morning and return Friday evening. The cost of the trip is around $2,000 and students fund raise the year before and the year of their trip.
The group will fly to Washington, D.C. where someone from the Close Up Foundations picks them up and takes them to the hotel. Program instructors from Close Up will take the students around to different monuments and museums while teaching them about history, government and current events.
On Capital Hill day, Mr. Coolman takes the group to meet with our Representative and Senators, while also visiting the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court.
The students will also participate in workshops that include a debate and a mock Congress.
