VEX V5 Rogers City Robotics Team
About Us
Hi there, Meet Double Negative, 3734M, the 8-12 grade VEX V5 Rogers City Robotics Team. We compete in robotics tournaments throughout the state and the Country!
Our program is student driven and allows team members the opportunity to gain skills in leadership, communication, problem solving, collaboration, time management, computer programming, design, use of hand and power tools and much more.
Robotics opens up a wide range of interests and prospects. It is possible to construct, program, or even notebook in robotics. Students must design, model, and program a robot to carry out a variety of tasks. You do not need any background knowledge in robotics to join! Our team is open to grades 8-12.
The Challenge
The VEX game changes every year in April. A new robot must be constructed each year. The team meets all year, but once school begins the build season really starts and we meet more frequently. Generally, the build season is at it’s peak from October to February, we meet more frequently and depending if we advance for further competition.
The team will compete at an advanced level while traveling the whole state. For competitions more than four hours away we usually stay in motels for one or two nights. Bigger tournaments like the U.S. Open and Worlds are held in other states and last several days. The team has qualified for the U.S. Open the last two years and now has their site set on the World championship, which takes place every year in May.
